FLTA reveals why delegates return to its Safety Conference each year

The Fork Lift Truck Association’s National Fork Truck Safety Conference is *the* event of the year for those responsible for ensuring safe fork lift truck operations.

Now in its 12th year, it’s the only event dedicated to the subject in Europe. Delegates return year-in, year-out. And for lots of good reasons, as FLTA chief executive Peter Harvey MBE explains:

1. Invest in your team

“Attending the Conference can be a real morale booster. By investing in your leadership and enabling them to attend, you are demonstrating your faith in them, while underlining the important role they play on site.

“And that’s before they even arrive and start developing their skills. Because #SAFE2017 is accredited to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme, delegates are awarded four hours for their attendance.”

2. Stay informed of current legislation and HSE plans

“The Conference brings Delegates up-to-speed with the most important and recent legislative changes. So they know where they stand legally.

“The keynote address from the HSE provides delegates with a snapshot of their current climate – including accident statistics and trends, so they can be prepared.

“Delegates also get to hear – first-hand – just what the HSE’s plans (and targets) are for the year ahead.”

3. Learn from those leading the way

“From key note addresses by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to real-life case studies on safety initiatives – delivered by the men and women who developed them –the conference is packed to the rafters with the latest thinking and trends on fork lift truck safety.

“This year’s programme, under the theme Managing Fork Lift Safety in Changing Times, includes sessions designed to make your operations safer… as well as more profitable.”

4. Get inspired

“Listening to our peers discuss the real difference they’ve made to their staff’s lives is an inspiring catalyst for our own endeavours.

“What’s more, they are sharing tried-and-tested solutions to common problems that are practical, affordable and easy-to-implement.

“So you can start benefitting from your attendance as soon as you return to work.”

5. Build your network and strengthen your team

“The Conference brings together 300 to 400 managers and supervisors who are committed to improving site safety – making it a great opportunity to network.

“We encourage delegates to collaborate and share their knowledge and experience with others.

“But the Conference is about more than networking with new contacts. Many companies send small teams to the event. While demonstrating the importance of safety to their colleagues, it strengthens their team bonds.”
