Tony Gallagher - Continental Tyres UK

Tony Gallagher joined Continental Tyres UK in 2015 as Key Account Manager – National Fleet and brought with him a wealth of practical and operational excellence gained from many years managing aftermarket tyre programmes for the likes of Linde Creighton and Barloworld Handling.

Tony will offer Conference delegates practical advice and tips on best practice across a range of tyre related topics, such as the correct fitment of tyres for the vehicle and application, plus the optimal maintenance to ensure tyres deliver both safety and efficiency. He will also discuss key safety considerations for tyre servicing agents working on customers’ premises.

Laura Nelson - RTITB

Celebrating 20 years with RTITB this year, Managing Director Laura Nelson, lives and breathes the transport, warehousing and logistics industry. Since joining the company in 1997, Laura has worked her way through nearly every role possible, learning a great deal along the way.

Statistics show that more than 60% of operators cannot carry out and record a robust pre-use inspection. Laura will explain how failure to do so can have devastating consequences.

She will also discuss the typical incidents that occur within the workplace and the quick judgements we are all guilty of making when we deem something as safe or unsafe.

Chris Rowlinson and Neil Ward - Rowlinson Knitwear

Finalists of the hotly contested Safe Site Award 2017, Rowlinson Knitwear take the safety of their workforce very seriously. This year's Safety Conference will see the company's Commercial Director, Neil Ward, and Production Director, Chris Rowlinson, jointly deliver a presentation.

Their talk will explain how embedding a values-led culture and being employee-owned has benefited their workforce's involvement in improving health and safety.

The presentation will also demonstrate how these factors build on the company’s wider employee engagement agenda, in which collaboration and constant improvment are key to enhancing employees’ lives and commercial productivity.

Stuart Taylor - Mentor Training

A firm advocate for improving safety standards within the industry and an active FLTA board member, Stuart is Managing Director of Mentor FLT Training, the UK’s leading provider of nationwide materials handling.

His engaging presentation will spell out the three elements of fork lift truck training: giving special focus to the often-overlooked ‘job specific’ and ‘familiarisation’ aspects.

Stuart will highlight why completing this training is so important for employers – providing delegates with the genuine benefits for businesses in terms of safety, productivity and the bottom line.

Philip White - HSE

Head of Operational Strategy for the HSE, Philip White will reveal vital information on the latest accident statistics and trends in relation to fork lift truck operations.

He will also provide conference goers with an insight into the HSE’s operational strategy for the year ahead, including plans for inspection, prosecution and enforcement measures delivered by its operational units across industries.

Such information is essential for those with a responsibility for ensuring a safe site and, as ever, the HSE’s contribution to the discussion will be truly indispensable.
