New sponsor for National Forklift Safety Month
National supplier joins the annual Safetember safety campaign
Windsor Materials Handling has confirmed that it will sponsor the Fork Lift Truck Association’s National Forklift Safety Month 2018.
The annual safety campaign, which runs throughout the month of September, was launched in 2008 to raise awareness of key issues affecting forklift safety for operators, as well as their colleagues.
The latest statistics from the HSE reveal that every working day in the UK, five people are left with life-changing injuries, such as dislocations and amputations, as a result of forklift accidents.
A steadfast supporter of the campaign since its inception, Windsor is one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of materials handling equipment and a long-serving Member of the FLTA.
Explaining the company’s decision to take its safety commitment to the next level, managing director Stephen Burton from Windsor Materials Handling said: “The Fork Lift Truck Association does a lot of fantastic and important work to drive the conversation around lift truck safety.
“It’s a subject the whole team at Windsor feel very strongly about… which is why we made the decision to sponsor safety month. It underlines our commitment creating safer workplaces – not just for ourselves, for our customers and the wider industry, too.
“You don’t walk away from a lift truck accident and the rate of serious injury is truly shocking. As an industry, we need to come together and have frank, honest discussions on what needs to be done. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing this September.”
The FLTA’s Peter Harvey added: “Safety Month is one of the most important things we do. We’ve been gradually building the campaign year-upon-year and the 2017 campaign was recently nominated for an award.
“Having a company like Windsor on board brings an exciting new dynamic to the event and that’s sure to take it to the next level.
“As Windsor have highlighted, there’s still so much more that can be done to make our industry safer and having a highly respected company like Windsor behind the campaign will make a big difference.”
