Up-Skilling Course: IMI – Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair Qualification Level 3
This programme provides the essential knowledge and competence for service technicians working on a range of lift trucks. It is suitable for someone who has experience with machines as an engineer, a knowledge of operating principles of combustion engines, and/or a knowledge of operating principles of electric vehicles.
F-TEC fully supports the trainees throughout the course and also offers access to additional expertise post-course. The training is supported by E-Portfolio, a distance learning programme which has been specifically designed to support candidates throughout their journey to attain their Level 3 qualification.
Trainees are assessed through:
• Online multiple-choice testing
• Online written assignments

VRQ (Vocational Related Qualification) Diploma in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair at Level 3
The programme is awarded by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) at our accredited centre based in Swindon.
Block 1 – The Technical Units include: Health & Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment (G0102), Support for Job Roles in the Automotive Environment (G3)
Block 2 – Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Environment (G4)
Block 3 – Inspecting Lift Trucks (LT0506), Diagnosis and rectification of Lift Truck Electrical Units and Components (AE063)
Block 4 – Diagnosis and rectification of Lift Truck Engine Faults (LT07), Diagnosis and rectification of Chassis System Faults (LT08)
Block 5 – Learning through demonstration and instruction (G6), How to Identify and Agree Motor Vehicle Customer Service Needs (G8)
- Training costs: £6,250 +VAT
- Lunch Costs: Lunch will be provided on site for the cost of £7.50 +VAT per day, equating to £37.50 +VAT per block (£187.50 +VAT over the whole course).
- IMI Registrations: The cost of registration onto the IMI qualification is £250. However, should an engineer fail an online test and a resit is required, a charge of £5 per resit will be made to the employer.
